Lisbon, 27-30 March

In the recent edition of Alimentaria 2011 held in Lisbon from 27 to 30 March, ULMA Packaging showed interesting developments in packaging systems for the Portuguese market. One of the main keynotes was the strong commitment of the market regarding process and packaging automation, including handling automation. Thanks to collaboration between different companies, the offer of equipment integration was also extended.

A clear example of this could be seen in our stand. Variety of interesting solutions.

Presented for the first time in Portugal, ULMA's own robotics. It was exhibited a delta model D12 robot which automates product loading into an Artic flow pack wrapping machine for packaging sausages in modified atmosphere.

First time in the market, a thermoforming ULMA's new TFS 700 Skin machine was shown. A hygienic thermoforming machine for skin packaging applications aimed for meat, dairy and seafood products.

Under the new exclusive distribution agreement for Italian G. Mondini tray sealers for Portugal, ULMA exhibited high production model E 367 specifically targeted for the packaging of fresh produce and ready meals in preformed trays.

As the result of collaboration between ULMA and Marel, the world leader in food processing, there were also showed, two complete packaging lines.

We presented an ULMA SVALX sleeve wrapper for fish boxes fed by a Marel SBM3000 batcher and ULMA VTI 200 vertical wrapper integrated with a multiweigher of the Icelandic company, for bagging fresh food and frozen products.

In summary, a small but very interesting example of latest trends in the packaging industry. Automation and integration.
