Latteria Soresina selects ULMA Packaging as its packaging partner of choice for its Grana Padano wedges

Latteria Soresina was founded in 1900 as a cooperative, combining the close synergy of some of its members who wished to make the most of their raw material – milk. This has led to the company becoming one of the main players in the production of Grana Padano cheese, with a brand presence in both traditional and large-scale distribution.

As a result of strong market demand for a fresh product which has increasingly become similar to delicatessen food, Latteria Soresina decided to mass produce this good. The company launched a project with a production line operated by several machines selected among all the available European partners.

"ULMA was selected as the company with which to start this collaboration, by virtue of its expertise and its list of references for this particular type of product”, outlines Davide Arpini, Factory Plant Manager.

ULMA proposed the FM 300 flow pack machine, a highly flexible solution with a high production capacity that uses a Cryovac BDF ® film, suitable for packaging a delicate product such as the Grana Padano cheese, which requires a special type of processing.

During the design phase, Latteria Soresina paid particular attention to the synchronisation of the entire production line, both upstream and downstream with respect to the packaging machine. The concept of Industry 4.0 was applied to ensure that production techniques could be implemented automatically thanks to a simple and intuitive human machine interface (HMI) system installed on the ULMA machines.

A year on from the commissioning of the packaging machine, Arpini affirms that "the collaboration with ULMA Packaging proved truly successful: all the expectations of Latteria Soresina were met in the planning stage.".
